Donal Murphy Photography wins major prize at IPPA/ RSA Assurance Annual Photography Awards 2010
Photographer Donal Murphy this week won Best Architectural Portfolio and Best Architectural Image at the prestigious IPPA/ RSA Assurance Photography Awards 2010 held at Ballymascanlon House, Dundalk, Co. Louth on Sunday 28th February 2010.
Murphy was selected from over 2,500 entries for his stunning architectural photography. Donal’s winning portfolio images included shots of Pier D, Dublin Airport (Client: Laing O’Rourke); the Hair Restoration Clinic, Blackrock (Client: RKD Architects) ; Spencer Dock Residential (Client: Scott Tallon Walker Architects) and FSA, Backweston (Client: Walls Ltd.).
Irish Professional Photographers Association (IPPA) Chairman of the Judges, Vincent O Byrne FIPPA, commented: “This year saw the highest number of entries ever for the National Awards. The IPPA presented Awards in 30 separate categories, promoting the very best in Irish professional photography”.
Donal is a specialist architectural photographer with over 15 years experience and has shot many of the country’s major architectural and civil landmarks. He is an Associate Member of the IPPA and a Qualified European Photographer in Architecture. Murphy graduated in Communication Studies from Dublin City University and now runs a dynamic commercial photography studio from central Dublin, exploring how new digital technologies can be applied to the traditional techniques used in Architectural Photography. He is currently developing techniques for applying the principles of architectural photography to shooting video footage of building and civil projects as an added service for his clients, an exciting new development which can be used in anything from company websites to broadcast quality documentaries.
