Tony Corrigan will speak on what is driving the HSE to tender for the provision of goods and services, and how they are learning from best international practice.
Teresa Yi Zhang was previously team leader for the Hospital Procurement Services Group (HPSG) and managed contracts to get best value for the HPSG. Find out what the buyer is really looking for in your tenders.
There is an extensive list of services the HSE says it plans to contract out in 2011, at a value of €781.5 million.
The full list of products and services are on the Tender Team website, see seminar information for more details. The services also include a potential €120 million on "unknown corporate requirements" in addition to areas such as medical supplies, drugs and medicines, ICT, haemodialysis services, patient transport and residential services.
The HSE is making intensive efforts this year to maximise cost reduction across all categories of products and services. As part of this exercise, there is a substantial focus in going to tender where it is deemed that better value for money and cost reduction can be achieved. As a consequence of this, it is envisaged there will be an increase in tender activity across the health sector in 2011.
